Frequently Asked Questions

The system doesn’t require any enhanced safety, nor do the reagents. It’s fully self-contained and uses various buffer solutions and less than 200 mM aq. hydrogen peroxide for hydroxyl radical protein footprinting.

The total instrument stack for the Fox System is 584 mm high, 432 mm wide, and 432 mm deep. You’ll also need to make some space to the left of the device for a rack that holds three 15 mL falcon tubes and to the right for the laptop computer, which controls the system.

Our instrumentation does not require a laser. It’s laser-free solution. The light source is a proprietary high-pressure, high-energy output plasma flash lamp. Wavelength ranges from 205 – 350 nm.  The wavelength domain of the lamp supports all popular and promising radical protein footprinting schemes. By far and away, hydroxyl radical protein footprinting is the most widely used scheme, while the others are emerging techniques. The lamp makes everything pretty much straightforwardand easy.

Typically, installation only takes one day for a GenNext expert to install and test the system. Then, we spend two days to conduct a training session for your researchers that includes instrument operation, software training, and initial applications-based support.

After the initial setup and training, we typically hold webinars to support any further issues at no cost to our customers.

We have a partner in the EU who assists in installation and technical repair and support. After that, we use webinars to provide any further support required.

Yes, we have produced a very educational series of webinars that are available for free and on-demand, presented by luminaries in the field. Topics include Introduction to Protein Footprinting, Protein Footprinting Applications, FPOP HRPF, HRPF Data Processing, and In-cell and in vivo FPOP.
